The AV is excited to welcome new students to the upcoming Summer Semester 2026’s Welcome Week, where newly enrolled students get to familiarise themselves with the many facilities and organisations that work within or with RWTH.
If you’re joining in, check out the program and make sure to register for any limited events you are interested in, such as the Scavenger Hunt and City Tours! You can find the event schedule and registration links here:

Just like in the previous semester, the AV and the International Office have collaborated to create a step-by-step guide for International students who have just arrived in Aachen, published as the Instagram post, First Steps in Aachen. You can find it pinned on our Instagram, or through this link:

This semester, Monday coincides with a public holiday (Ostermontag), so Welcome Week will begin on Tuesday morning, 7th of April, instead. Pick up an armband and starter pack during check-in at Audimax and watch the opening ceremony, then head to your respective onboarding programs: exchange, degree and materials engineering master’s students. After that, there are several simultaneous events that may require registration, so make sure to check beforehand and plan accordingly.
Introductions to your specific faculty are divided in the following days. Materials and mechanical engineering shares a slot on Tuesday morning, chemistry and civil engineering on Thursday morning and geosciences and georesources management on Friday. The faculties have also set up various get-togethers, so make sure to check them out.
If you are interested in meeting AV, visit out booth at the Fresher’s Fair on Wednesday, 6th April, from 13 – 16:00 at Audimax, or participate in our event, Speed Friends, where you get to meet and talk with new people through a speed-dating-esque format, on Thursday, 9th of April, from 18:30 – 21.00 in SuperC, 6th floor. You can find out more information about it on our Instagram.
The AV hopes to see you at our events, and wish you a wonderful time during the Welcome Week and throughout the semester!
